For a while, people assumed that tough economic times and rising gas prices were the sole reasons people were opting to buy small cars. While cost undoubtedly plays a role for a percentage of the population now driving the Yaris, Versa and Prius, a sign that the times are changing and that it is now cooler’ to drive a pint-sized vehicle is that people are increasingly choosing to buy fully-loaded, premium small cars. Mini Coopers, some of the Toyota Scions and even Fiats are purchased with leather seats, chrome detailing and sunroofs for a little yet luxurious statement on four wheels and the price tag, although less than a full-sized SUV is considerably higher than their economy counterparts.
