The Dodge Durango remember that vehicle? In America’s heyday that was the nineties the Dodge Durango was one of the hottest SUVs on the market big, gas guzzling and inefficient, just the way we liked it. But as society wised up and realized such values would lead us to Judgment Day faster than Ricky Henderson stealing second, the Durango, not so suddenly, vanished from the automobile market. But now, the SUV is back at you local Newark Dodge dealership and Hackensack Dodge dealership and it is better than ever. Although the latest generation of the Durango is in leaner form, it is still as fabulous as it was on its original debut date.
Engine: The new Durango models available at your local Newark Dodge dealership and Hackensack Dodge dealership feature either a V6 or V8 engine with aluminum block and heads and port fuel injection. The 3.6-liter V6 model makes available 290 horsepower with 260 pound-feet of torque. The V8 engine is a Hemi that improves horsepower to 360 and torque to 390. This engine allows drivers to do whatever they please to in the Durango, but obviously at the cost of efficiency. Both the V6 and the V8 models utilize Teutonic foundations that further the performance abilities of the new Durango. Daimler-Chrysler has plans to use these same foundations in the next generation of the Mercedes M Class.
Trim Levels: Perhaps the best change in the newest Dodge Durango, or at least what will make it appealing to a number of different types of consumers, is the abundance of trim levels and add-ons Dodge is offering. Trim levels in a model are not in and of themselves unique, but they rarely reach over as large of a price discrepancy as the Durango trim levels do. For example, the base trim level of the Dodge Durango is the Durango Express, starting at $30,045. In contrast, the highest trim level available is the Durango R/T starts at $35,465. Available upgrades, packages and features quickly raise both of these prices significantly.
Exterior: The 2011 Durango looks nothing like its predecessor. Its makeover gives it a harder look – still SUV but has that rough, tough and cool personality, if you will. I think of the GMC Denali and Lincoln MKT in the same manner. However, just when you think you’ve officially categorized the Durango into this edgy classification, subtle minivan features whisper to you as well. Needless to say, the 2011 Durango has a look all its own in both terms of other vehicles and its previous self.
Interior: The interior of the Durango, much like the available trim levels, can be as basic or as plush as your wallet will allow. The base model comes with your standard, $30k vehicle run of the mill fare and the highest Dodge Durango model can hold its own against the most luxurious SUVs on the market.
